Kindred Hat Co. is a custom hat bar experience.

Owned and operated by Gage Speas and Jacob Hillenbrand, two custom hat makers based in Nashville, Tennessee, with a combined 18 years of experience crafting bespoke, handmade hats. Both trained through years of hands-on work at the bench, learning the traditions, materials, and techniques that define true hatmaking - measuring, blocking, shaping, and finishing each piece by hand.

Over time, we realized something important: while the hat itself matters deeply, the process matters just as much. The conversations, the fit, the small decisions, the moment someone sees themselves differently once the hat is on. That’s where the real value lives. Kindred was created to honor that moment.

At Kindred Hat Co., we’ve reimagined traditional hatmaking as a personal experience. Each session is intentionally unhurried and collaborative, designed to invite people into the craft rather than simply sell them a finished product. From first measurements to final shaping, every step is guided, hands-on, and tailored to the individual. No two hats, and no two experiences, are the same.

Rooted in Nashville and built on shared values, Kindred exists to create hats that feel lived-in from day one, and experiences that people remember long after they leave. These are modern heirlooms, shaped and styled by hand, meant to be worn often and worn well.
